Pedro Barbudo — Barbudo Surf

Pedro Barbudo has been surfing since 1988 and coaching since 2000. He is accredited Level III by the Portuguese Surfing Federation and Level II by the ISA, and holds a post-graduation in surfing from the Faculty of Human Motricity. He founded Guincho Surf School in 2000, and from 2004 to 2014 was national coach for the Portuguese Surfing Federation — ten years in which his teams took three European Championship titles and a string of national junior titles. Since 2018 he has coached the Russian national team, and since 2014 he has been a master coach training other surf coaches at Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve, on the European Coaches Programme. He built Coach Surf Online in 2012 to help surfers progress through video analysis. It started as an edited video report; since 2017 it runs as a live online session with screen sharing, where you go through every wave together in slow motion with explanatory drawing, and you keep a final written report on your phone for the next surf. On the beach he works one-to-one or with a maximum of three surfers, in Cascais or on a trip. Sessions are either in the water alongside you — reading the spot, the crowd and the conditions — or filming every wave to work on specific technical points. He also runs "Let's Coach Surf Together" for coaches who want to develop their own work with intermediate and competitive surfers.
